Sandy River Apple Orchard has been in the Fenton family since 1852. Frank L. Fenton with his wife Angelia bought the farm from the original settlers whom are buried in the cemetery behind the main house. In 1910 Frank's son, William Fenton, bought the adjacent farm and began to work both farms. After sitting vacant for 30 years, William's son Francis W. Welcome to the Sandy River Apple Orchard! Nestled along the banks of the Sandy River in Mercer, Maine, this quaint orchard produces an astounding 40 different varieties of apples. The Orchard is OPEN to the public for 2024! Visit anytime 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. Come choose from our 40 varieties of apples - some already picked - or choose to pick your own! As the iconic Francis Fenton passed away in 2015, his daughter Carol and her husband Jim are continuing Francis's tradition of welcoming you to visit and enjoy all the charm of a small Maine orchard.
